Hi, I’m Dr. Alexandra Perrine - I'm so glad you're here! Reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming, and I believe healing begins with having a space where you feel safe, understood, and accepted exactly as you are. My goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where you can explore life's challenges, strengthen your relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change.
As a therapist at Psychology House, I work with individuals and couples navigating a wide range of concerns, including trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, eating concerns, and life transitions. While I have specialized training in several areas, I believe that every person's story is unique. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to your individual needs, goals, and strengths.
I view therapy as a partnership. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you better understand yourself, uncover patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical tools to move toward the life and relationships you want. My work is grounded in interpersonal and attachment-based theories while integrating family systems and trauma-informed approaches. Together, we'll explore not only your current concerns but also the experiences that have shaped how you see yourself and connect with others.
Wherever you are in your journey, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Healing doesn't happen overnight, but you don't have to navigate it alone.
Relationship & Interpersonal Concerns
Many of the adults I work with find themselves repeating the same painful relationship patterns. They may struggle with trust, fear abandonment or rejection, lose themselves in relationships, or feel disconnected from the people they care about most. Often, these patterns developed as ways of surviving difficult experiences, but over time they can prevent us from building the secure, fulfilling relationships we truly want.
In therapy, we'll work together to understand where these patterns come from, strengthen emotional awareness, improve communication, establish healthy boundaries, and create relationships built on safety, authenticity, and connection.
Emotional Regulation
I also specialize in working with adults whose emotions often feel overwhelming or difficult to manage. Many of my clients have spent years believing they're "too sensitive," "too emotional," or fundamentally misunderstood. They may experience chronic shame, identity struggles, unstable relationships, or intense emotional reactions that leave them feeling exhausted. Emotional dysregulation often develops in response to difficult or unresolved experiences, including trauma, and these patterns can continue even after the original experiences have passed.
Together, we'll focus on developing effective coping strategies, increasing emotional stability, strengthening your sense of self, and building healthier, more satisfying relationships without sacrificing who you are.
Eating Concerns & Body Image
I am passionate about helping individuals heal their relationship with food, body image, and themselves. Whether you're struggling with an eating disorder, chronic dieting, binge eating, emotional eating, restrictive eating, or persistent body dissatisfaction, therapy can help you move away from shame and toward self-compassion.
Using evidence-based treatment, I help clients reduce guilt and anxiety around eating, break the binge-restrict cycle, develop sustainable eating habits, improve body image, and build a sense of self-worth that extends far beyond weight or appearance.
My Background
I earned my Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with diverse populations across a variety of settings, including children and families involved in the justice system, community mental health agencies, and university counseling centers throughout Florida.
These experiences have allowed me to work with clients across the lifespan and with a broad range of mental health concerns. They also introduced me to one of my favorite aspects of clinical work—facilitating therapy groups—which deepened my appreciation for the healing power of shared experiences and connection.
A Little About Me
Outside of the therapy room, I'm a Florida native who loves spending time by the beach or pool whenever I can. I'm deeply family-oriented and cherish time spent with the people I love. I'm also an avid reader, and if I could spend every day reading a great book by the water, I'd be perfectly content.
